Former ITV CEO joins Endemol board

Charles Allen, the former CEO of ITV, will take a seat on Endemol’s board in a move that marks his return to the TV industry after resigning as ITV head amid criticism in 2006.

At Endemol, Allen will represent Goldman Sachs, which owns a significant stake in the production house, reports the Financial Times. The move follows Allen’s recent appointment as senior adviser to Goldman Sachs private equity arm.

Allen’s Endemol seat could rekindle speculation about the firm’s interest in struggling ITV. While a takeover bid remains unlikely, the Dutch firm could be interested in ITV’s production unit should the TV group be split, reports the FT citing people familiar with Endemol’s position.
