US blog network Glam Media is breaking into the German market with the acquisition of digital marketing firm Codex Media. The financial details were not disclosed.
The move is part of Glam Media’s expansion into Europe and follows on from its acquisition of London-based ad company Monetise last month. Codex founder Katja Dalhöfer will serve as director of sales for the new division, while Ralf Hirt, VP of international for Glam Media, will become managing director. Glam has also formed a partnership with Burda Cross Media, a business unit of Hubert Burda Media, to accelerate its German launch.
Glam Media is a privately held company that operates a network of websites and blogs aimed specifically at women, with features on fashion, cosmetics and entertainment. The flagship site Glam.com pulls in some 42 million unique visitors per month, according to comScore.
Earlier this year, Glam received USD84.6m in funding, comprising USD64.6m in fourth round venture funding and USD20m in revenue-based debt financing.
