Revenues from local online video ads in the US will reach USD1.5bn by the end of 2012, growing at a compound annual growth rate of 168%, says the Kelsey Group.

The firm also predicts that video ads will comprise 11.6% of the online ad budgets of small and medium-sized businesses, with this market set to grow at a compound growth rate of 11.6%by 2012. The Kelsey Group bases its predictions in part on a Mar 2008 study which states that 62% of online consumers had seen an online video ad, compared to 59% in 2007.

The report also suggests that 47.3% of consumers who viewed an online ad then visited the website, 19% requested product information and 16.9% made a purchase.
