Moxsie Raises $1M+ For Fashion Socnet; Moxsie is a social marketplace that helps you discover fresh brands and boutiques with your friends

Palo Alto’s Moxsie has raised $1M+ in Series A funding led by Alloy Ventures, says PeWire. The startup’s founder/CEO is Hrishi Kamat, who was a VP at Kanisa and at Netscape/AOL. His co-founder and Fashionista in Chief is Catalina Gerald, a Stanford MBA who was an associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP.

The concept here is a social network for fashion designers, buyers and retailers. For shoppers, the sell is a place where women come to find clothes that fit their particular body, personality, and style. Moxsie is a social marketplace that helps you discover fresh brands and boutiques with your friends and through your friends. You can find unique products from independent designers and local boutiques, get invitations to sample sales, and personalized recommendations.

We don’t know enough about the fashion world to know if there is a play here, but for sure other socnets like deviantArt have worked by focusing on a creative process.
