TV gossip site BuddyTV gets USD6m funding from Madrona Venture Group

Online TV-focused social network BuddyTV is receiving USD6m in funding from Madrona Venture Group, from a round initially looking to raise between USD3m-4m.

BuddyTV provides a social site for users to discuss TV shows, share gossip and participate in community polls regarding their favourite programs.

The site has seen constantly growing user numbers with discussion of shows such as Lost and reality TV bringing around 4m unique visitors per month and 25m page views. The funding will be used to hire new staff, boost advertising sales and possibly see expansion into new media discussion areas such as video games and movies.
