Online TV network Revision3 is partnering with video-ad firm VideoClix to introduce intelligent in-video ads for its range of shows, reports Webware. The roll-out is to start with a single episode of weekly tech show Diggnation, with other shows reportedly due to follow.
VideoClix lets users click on items within videos, using their cursor to roll over linked objects. Information is then revealed in overlays, which can be monetised by linking to a retailer or sponsor. The system is an alternative to overlayed pre- and post-video adverts.
Revision3 was set up in 2005 by Digg-founder Kevin Rose. The online video network, which produces original programming, raised USD8m in Series B funding in Jun 2007. In Mar 2008 Revision3 signed a distribution deal that allows its programmes to be shown through video site, Blip.tv.
