Online Casual Games; Casual game firm Bunchball gets USD5m funding

Social gaming developer Bunchball is receiving USD4m in Series B funding from existing investors Adobe Ventures and Granite Ventures, who previously provided USD2m in funding in October 2006.

Bunchball designs casual games through its Nitro platform for social networks, using a combination of game design and behavioural economics to ensure users return to a given site to play games and spend longer on-site playing.

In addition to social sites, Bunchball has also partnered with NBC to provide gaming content for the web site of TV series “The Office” and the NBC Sports portal. The funding will be used to expand the company’s marketing and promotion efforts.
