Nielsen Business Media cuts jobs

Nielsen Business Media is cutting staff. The layoffs, first reported by media online magazine FOLIO, were confirmed by the company, which says they are part of a “previously announced restructuring effort”.

A FOLIO-source says that around 36 jobs are being cut in the editorial departments of Adweek, Brandweek, Mediaweek and the Hollywood Reporter. Nielsen declined to confirm this.

Earlier this week, Nielsen bought US ad analytics firm IAG Research for USD225m in cash. Over the past year it also took over Audience, Telephia and NetRatings. The firm reported unaudited EBITDA profits of USD811m last year, with a 7% increase in revenues to USD4.7bn.
