BBC America is selling multi-platform ads across BBC.com and its stateside TV channels, BBC America and BBC World News, reports Adweek. The official introduction of the ad-team comes after the UK broadcaster approved the division in Dec 2007. The team takes over all US digital and cable ad sales from Discovery Networks, which BBC America had previously used, with the change-over taking place last week.
The new team is headed by Mark Gall, the SVP for BBC America and BBC digital sales. Other key appointments include Brian Matthews, Mark Richardson and Charles Douglass who take over as VPs for ad sales in the East Coast, Midwest and West Coast respectively. Mathews joins from NBC, Richardson from The Weather Channel and Douglass from CNN.
President of BBC World News, Gareth Ancier, says: “By having a sales team that connects directly with our clients, we can now execute on our strategy of building and investing in cable networks, digital and mobile markets.”Speaking to Adweek, Gall adds: “Being firmly based in the New York, Chicago and Los Angeles communities is vital to understanding our customers’ media needs.”
