Joost expands Premiere League online rights

Joost is expanding its broadcasting rights to the English Premier League to include a number of new regions. The web TV will now show free highlights from the tournament in the Middle East, North Africa, Oceania, Belgium, Greece, Portugal and Brazil. Joost has acquired the rights from Nimbu Sport International, building on existing deals in the Indian subcontinent, Hong Kong and Japan.

Under the agreement, Joost will stream the best actions from every Premiere League match for free on a dedicated ad-supported web channel. It will also offer special features such as shows ‘Player of the Week’, ‘Team of the Week ‘ and ‘Golden Moments’.

London-based Joost recently announced it is upgrading its service to let users steam content directly from their web browser, without having to download an application.
