Google loses another top executive to Facebook

Google is losing its director of social media to Facebook, with Ethan Beard taking a senior business development role at the social network.

Beard confirms he has accepted a position as business development director for Facebook but declined to comment on his reasons for leaving Google.

The departure marks the second recent loss of a senior Google executive to Facebook, with former Google head of AdSense and AdWords sales Sheryl Sandberg leaving to become Facebooks chief operating officer, with past losses including YouTube chief financial Gideon Yu and Google Checkout product head Benjamin Ling. Google says it intends to replace Beard through internal hiring.
